Leading Light Foundation
In 2008, Nishi founded a non-profit and non-partisan legal human rights foundation.. Comprised of pro bono attorneys, writers, scholars, research associates and investigators, LLF's goal is to create greater awareness of crimes against humanity occuring globally. The issues are wide-ranging, from violence against women and children to slavery, genocide, war crimes, discriminatory politics& business practices and inadequate representation of the interests of minority populations. LLF is an independent organization with no affiliation with any religion or political organization. The primary goal is report objectively on human rights issues, violations of international laws and policies and advocate for legal, social and policy change. Background

Nishi has a B.A. in Literature and Rhetoric from Binghamton University, New York and a Juris Doctor from St. John's University of Law, New York (2002). She has been practicing in New York City since 2003 and is presently with a large defense firm in Manhattan. She served for three years on the International Human Rights Committee of the Bar Association of the City of New York, created and chaired the Lawyers' Committee of ECPAT-USA to end child sex-trafficking and has chaired committees on the missing and illegal detentions of lawyers in China and Uzbekistan.

Nishi has volunteered as a Youth Mentor for the Children's Aid Society (Harlem, NYC), volunteered with Amnesty International, supported SpeakUp.org, Doctors Without Borders and continues to volunteer pro bono for organizations, charities and local community efforts.
